A Commandery is unusual because candidates must be Christian. The degrees of “Chivalric” Masonry are called “Orders of Knighthood” and there are three: the Order of the Red Cross, Order of Malta, and Order of the Temple. Valley Commandery is in the West Central Division of Ohio (one of seven divisions) and includes Montgomery, Clark, Miami, Shelby, Greene, Preble, Champaign, Logan, and Madison Counties. In order to petition for membership, a candidate must be a member in good standing of a Blue Lodge and a Chapter.
